"Join me on the Bridge"

" After Lucia introduced to me the idea of organizing the event “Join Me on the Bridge“ in Slovakia I was excited and yet uncertain about the impact of my little contribution. I gave it a try. Learn how little can be more powerful than you could imagine over the course of time.

“Join Me on the Bridge” is an event organized by Women for Women, “organization that provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies. “

On March 8th, the International Women´s Day, Women for Women has been organizing “Meet you on the bridge” for the second time. The idea behind this wonderful event is to show support to women in need. Women come together and meet on the bridges all over the world in order to demonstrate against violence and abuses on the women in war areas.

This year there were 464 events in 70 different countries and Slovakia had the chance to be a part of it for the first time.

Although in a small group, we met, talked, learned and in this way started to act. That’s the message I would like to bring today. It does not matter how you start to help. It is reading this short article, thinking about the issues that are bigger and more important than we are, donating or writing on this wall... what make changes happen.
